Ormond Beach Project
Oxnard, California

Description
39-acre site located on in the Oxnard, California.  The proposed project will include an ocean front hotel including restaurants and retail shopping, a timeshare development and an ocean front condo-hotel mixed-use development.   The subject property is the former location of the Halaco Engineering Company.

The former Halaco Engineering site is an abandoned metal facility which operated in Oxnard from 1965 to 1994.  Scrap metal, including radioactive material was processed at the smelter portion on the west side of the Oxnard Industrial Drain.  Under the authorities of Emergency Response Program, the Environmental Protection Agency, Region IX (EPA), has committed $2.5M to reshape the slag piles to make then less susceptible to erosion.  The EPA has recommended the site be added to the national priority list and the Superfund hazardous waste cleanup site.

LAG services include:

The Landacq Group has been retained as the redevelopment project manger.  The site is located within the Ormond Beach Redevelopment Project Area for the City of Oxnard.  LAG will coordinate and facilitate the commitment of funding for remediation of the site with federal, state and local agencies including the EPA, California Coastal Coalition, Oxnard Redevelopment Agency, City of Oxnard, Ventura County, The Nature Conservancy of California and various government officials on the federal, state and local levels.  LAG has begun preliminary discussion and investigations with the planning department for the City of Oxnard for potential development of the site including residential, commercial and industrial development.
